Pinewood Derby Rules for Pack 150
The Pack understands that the adult partner may not want the Scout using
power tools to cut or drill the pinewood derby car. The Scout can design, sand, add or glue the weight on, polish the axles, and paint (hand or spray) his car.
This Derby is for the adult partner to guide the Scout in building the car, not build the car for the Scout. What is the Scout getting out of this Derby if the adult partner builds the car? That his adult partner can build a car better than a 6- 10 year old. This is not what this event is about. It is about the pride the Scout will have in knowing what he is racing, was built by him.
If he does not win a Trophy at least he will go away knowing, that he DID
HIS BEST. If he goes away winning a Trophy with a car his adult partner built, he knows his adult partner DID HIS BEST for him, and has learned nothing about sportsmanship.
